Festive reopening of the upgraded church
On Easter morning, the Danish Lutheran Church in Toronto was full of music, happy faces and excited people. That morning we reopened the church after a long period of renovating the sanctuary.
The congregation witnessed how the two new altar paintings made by Danish Artist Simon Aaen were revealed. After an Easter Service full of music (see the service on YouTube here), there were presentations made by president Sune Overgaard, Pastor Simon and Honorary Consul General Arne Nordtorp.
The presentation ended with the premiere of a new hymn written by Pastor Simon to music composed by the church’s organist, Mark Fenger. The original Danish text was translated into English by Brigitte Bogar, the church singer. The hymn is about (Danish) migrants to Toronto and the new artwork: The stormy sea with the disciples in the boat and Jesus walking on water.
