New pastor for the Danish Church in Toronto
We are excited to announce that Kirstine Rasmussen will be the new pastor at the Danish church in Toronto. Kirstine will be moving to Toronto with her husband and their two young children in October 2023.
She comes from a position as parish pastor at Søndermarks Kirken in Viborg. She also brings great insight into working with a Danish church and congregation abroad, as she previously worked with the Danish Church in Australia. This is where she met her husband Frej, who has Swedish-New Zealand roots.
Kirstine Rasmussen says she and her family are looking forward to their new life in Toronto: "Occasionally, life presents us with opportunities that you just have to seize. That’s what makes life such an adventure, when events unfold that you could only dare to hope for. A new adventure is now what we are standing at the threshold of as we will be moving to Toronto, where I will be the new pastor for the Danish congregation. It is with great joy, humility and gratitude, that I thank you for this opportunity.”
On behalf of the congregation, Board President Sune Overgaard is pleased to be welcoming Kirstine Rasmussen and to starting this next chapter for the church and its congregation: "It is important for us to have a Danish pastor who can bring both innovation and ideas as well as tradition to our community from Denmark and elsewhere. In Kirstine, we see a pastor with great experience who understands the special nature of a Danish church and community abroad."
Kirstine Rasmussen will be starting her position in October 2023. Until then, Jørgen Flensted-Jensen, among others, will fill in as pastor at the church. If anyone wishes to speak with a pastor during this transition time, please contact Sune Overgaard or Gerda Andersen, and arrangements will be made.
